    Digital camera images

The 'Normal' setting on your camera is the best setting to use. This file size allows the greatest flexibility of uses.

Image size should be at least 1280 pixels x 960 pixels approx @ 72pixels/inch. File size should be between 800KB and 2000KB approx direct from the camera as a jpeg. The size stated will be too large for the calendar, but it will give brilliant results allowing us to reduce the size to fit the template. Reducing the size of the image will improve the quality of the image.

For more information see also "Scan resolutions"

Some useful information on how to resize your images can be found at digital-photo-software-guide.com

Scan resolutions - If you are scanning your own images

Many people believe that you need the image resolution to be as high as possible to achieve good quality print. The truth is the resolution needs to be in relation to the output size and the output device.

For Example - scanning for conventional printing

Using our High-end scanners (which scan at over 5000dpi) to scan an original that will be output at A4 size, we would scan and enlarge or reduce the image to A4. Once scanned the scanner will on the fly convert that image to 300dpi this will give a file size of 40Mb. When this image is placed in the document we will be able to enlarge the image by 30% to 40% without any great loss.

This would be far too large for the production of your Calendars and Cards.

We recommend that you scan your images at the highest resolution available on your scanner, this will pick up the most information. Once you have scanned the image resize it to the required output size* and adjust the resolution to 150dpi.

    * Scale your image to A5 (210mm x 150mm) approx crop your image as required. We would suggest saving the file as a .jpg at the highest quality, this will compress the file for easier transmission to us.

Send your files to us : via ftp, on cd, or email to calendars@createAcalendar.info
